To our NCJW members:
We are looking to "grow" our projects and our involvement in the community. To do so we want to involve more members in our advocacy and community services, and are seeking volunteers to help with the following:
ADVOCACY Under the leadership of Helene Askinazi, VP 641-5319 haskinazi@aol.com
Participate in efforts to reduce teen pregnancy, HIV-AIDS, sexually transmitted diseases by advocating for legislation to provide medically accurate, age appropriate sexuality education in the public schools
Participate in efforts to make sure pharmacists do not refuse to fill prescriptions for birth 
control or refuse to sell emergency contraception to women because of their personal beliefs.
Represent NCJW and participate in a coalition to improve conditions for women in jail and 




prison
Represent NCJW at meetings of the county Domestic Violence Council (held once a month in West Palm Beach)
Represent NCJW at meetings of the Human Trafficking Task Force of Palm Beach County
COMMUNITY SERVICE under VP's Amy Steinberg and Susan Schwartz
LUGGAGE FOR INDEPENDENCE

Assist in receiving and dispersing donated suitcases, linen, towels, kitchen item, hygiene items to local agencies serving battered women, women facing homelessness and adolescents aging out of foster care
Help unpack donations and keep the storage unit organized
Keep records of donations and dispersals
Write thank you notes for donations
GUATEMALAN MAYA CENTER TUTORING
Under the leadership of Project Chair Joyce Kantrowitz 965-2803 maestra101@aol.com

Assist children whose parents speak neither English nor Spanish with homework and enrichment afternoons. Training provided
TEEN DATING ABUSE AWARENESS AND EDUCATION
Under the leadership of Susan Schwartz 966-2436 schwartz4021@bellsouth.net and Diane Daum 965-8022 DDaum4582@bellsouth.net
Go to youth groups, after school programs, etc to show video and conduct interactive discussion with teens about abusive relationships and to establish healthy relationships.
LISTEN TO CHILDREN
Under leadership of Project Chair Jeanne Levine 745-6106 diffrntdrmmr@aol.com
Visit one on one with a child at a local school once a week just to talk, to be a positive support for the child. Training provided
