OUR PASSOVER PRAYER
At this writing, our fabulous Women’s Seders have past. We are approaching our traditional Passover celebrations. What a terrific period in which to think about the freedoms we have and those that others don’t possess.

The greatest of all is having the freedom to use our TIME as we wish. How rare this is! Most of us are at a stage in which we have: no bosses, no need to perform for a salary, no enforced schedules! Maybe retirement means that we may not return to some activities that make us feel tired. However, many of us feel the spirit and energy that tells us that we are not done being operatives in tikun olam.

Please consider this Passover Prayer:
On Passover, we celebrate freedom from oppression
On this Passover, let us think of those oppressed by poverty.
On Passover, we celebrate the promise of a free people,
On this Passover, let us recognize the promise within all.
On Passover, we welcome the stranger into our homes.
On this Passover, let us think of those who have no place to call home.
On Passover we dip the herbs in salt water to remind us of the tears shed by our ancestors.
On this Passover, let us think of all whose tears must be dried.
On Passover, we break matzah to represent the bread of affliction.
On this Passover, let us remember those who have no more than crumbs to eat.
On Passover, we spill the wine to represent the ten plagues visited upon the Egyptians.
On this Passover, let us think of the hunger, homelessness, poverty, and abuse plaguing so many.
On Passover, the children recite the four questions.
On this Passover, let us resolve to speak out and act for the children who have no voice.
We are fortunate that we have NCJW, a great avenue through which we can continue making a difference. Let us resolve to use our free time well.
